Packers 30, Panthers 13 In their second season of existence, the Panthers were one victory from a Super Bowl appearance as they faced Green Bay in the NFC Championship Game. But 17 second-quarter points by the Packers were the difference. After a Sam Mills first-quarter interception, the Panthers took an early lead on a 2-yard pass from Kerry Collins to fullback Howard Griffith. Led by Brett Favre, however, the Packers went to work in the second quarter. "  Two Favre touchdown passes – one to Antonio Freeman, the other to Dorsey Levens – were too much for Carolina to overcome. After the game – played in wind-chill temperatures of more than 17 below – Collins said the Panthers would soon return to the championship game. That wouldn't turn out to be the case. Link | |
