Cutler calls coming to Bears 'a dream come true'

"Growing up in southern Indiana, Jay Cutler was a Bears fan, so he understands the franchise's history of quarterback futility.
That was apparent during his introductory news conference Friday at Halas Hall when he was asked the last time a Bears quarterback faced the kind of expectations that will greet him when he takes the field.
''I don't think I was alive,'' Cutler said quickly. ''It's been a while.''
Indeed it has. That's why the news of the Bears acquiring Cutler from the Denver Broncos on Thursday was almost unanimously hailed as a great move. Cutler, though, said he is fine with such expectations.
''Expectations are high everywhere,'' he said. ''Obviously, in this town it's gonna be a little bit higher because of how much the fans love and cherish the Bears. But it's gonna take everyone in the locker room, everyone upstairs to get it done.''
Even though he has only been in the Chicago area a short time, Cutler is aware of the excitement his arrival has sparked.
A Bears spokesman said traffic on the team's Web site exploded Friday and was overwhelmingly positive. The Bears also said online sales of No. 6 Cutler jerseys were brisk.
''It's a little humbling,'' Cutler said. ''To grow up a Bears fan and watch this organization for so long, and then come full circle and have a chance to play here, it's a dream come true.''
The reaction to the deal even caught general manager Jerry Angelo off guard.
''I'm really shocked by it,'' he said. ''I knew we'd create some new energy, but it's almost like a tsunami type of energy. It's great. It really is great -- great for our fans, great for those of us that work here every day. Hopefully, our players are sharing in the same euphoric feeling.''"
