The Dolphins added to their defensive line depth by trading a seventh-round draft pick to Jacksonville for defensive tackle Tony McDaniel, who started three games for the Jaguars in 2008.
McDaniel, a 24-year-old with two years left on his contract, is 6-7, 310 pounds. That is not a squat, nose-guard kind of build, so don't expect McDaniel to be part of the answer to who will succeed Jason Ferguson as the Dolphins 3-4 nose guard. But,it's a build for a 3-4 defensive end or a defensive tackle when the Dolphins switch to a 4-3.
broken wrist ended his 2007 season after four games and a toe injury ended last season with four games remaining. He had 16 tackles and half a sack in 10 games.
