The mother of a 5-year-old girl who allegedly suffered "severe injuries" on a school field trip to a south suburban Chuck E. Cheese in 2006 filed a lawsuit today accusing the pizza-and-games chain of failing to monitor children in its play area.
In her lawsuit filed in Cook County circuit court, Gerrhonda Stevens alleges her daughter, then 5, was at an Oak Lawn franchise, 4030 W. 95th St., which allowed too many children, including older kids, in an "enclosed tunnel" play area.
Her daughter exited the tunnel on a slide, followed by an "excess number" of bigger and older kids, who then fell atop her, causing injuries that deprived the child "of the ability and capacity to attend to most social, school and personal activities," according to the lawsuit.
The exact injuries were not specified and Stevens' attorney could not be reached for comment Thursday night.
Stevens is seeking more than $50,000 in damages.
