"Seahawks linebacker Leroy Hill apologized to Seahawks fans and the organization on Monday following his weekend arrest in Atlanta for possession of marijuana.
Hill, a pending free agent, issued a statement through the Seahawks following the Saturday morning incident in which he was discovered passed out at the wheel of his 1975 Buick Electra at a stop sign.
"I want to apologize to my family, my teammates, the Seahawks organization and fans," Hill said. "I am embarrassed by the incident Saturday morning and the poor judgment I showed. Please understand my actions were not consistent with the type of person I hope to become."
Seahawks president Tim Ruskell issued a concurrent statement.
"Any time anybody in our family gets in trouble or gets arrested, it feels like a punch in the gut," Ruskell said. "We are a team always striving for good, consistent character, so it is disappointing when something like this happens. However, we will never stop trying to be better."
Hill was found asleep in his car at 4 a.m. Saturday by a Douglas County Sheriff's Deputy. He consented to a search of his vehicle and the officer discovered two bags of marijuana in a book bag on the passenger seat."
