Davis has official talk with Giants' Gilbride

"It's official: Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride got his bona fide job interview with the Raiders.
Gilbride arrived in Oakland on Thursday to interview with Raiders owner Al Davis for the head coaching position, making him the third candidate to meet with Davis regarding the post formerly held by Lane Kiffin.
Gilbride spoke with Davis for 90 minutes by phone Jan. 3 and described it to New York reporters as a job interview. However, team officials said that was not an interview, but rather a "conversation" initiated by Gilbride's agent.
There was no such hair-splitting Thursday. Gilbride joins interim coach Tom Cable and Packers assistant head coach Winston Moss as head coaching candidates who have met with Davis in the past two weeks.
In New York, Gilbride tutored quarterback Eli Manning into a Pro Bowl player and Super Bowl champion. As the Chargers' head coach in 1997-98, he oversaw the brief career of quarterback bust Ryan Leaf.
If hired, Gilbride would be asked to oversee another high-profile quarterback - former No. 1 overall draft pick JaMarcus Russell, who struggled often as a first-year starter under three offensive play-callers last season.
The Raiders have satisfied the Rooney Rule by interviewing a minority candidate (Moss), freeing Davis to hire a head coach as soon as he wants."
