What happened to Smith?

Smith

As a part of his video analysis of Sunday night's game, ESPN Stats & Information's Mike Rodriguez passed along the following note about how Carolina's best player wasn't a factor -- at least not in a positive way -- in the second half.

The incredible disappearing Steve Smith:

After a 23-yard rush, followed by a 35-yard reception on the Panthers' opening drive of the game, Smith did not touch the ball in the second half, having only two passes thrown to him. He did have a major impact on the final Carolina drive of regulation, however, picking up a holding penalty that set back a run by DeAngelo Williams and made John Kasay's field goal just long enough to be blown wide by the wind. Overall, Smith finished with two rushes for 21 yards and three receptions for 47 yards.
