Monday was D.J. Hackett's turn to watch. The Carolina Panthers continued to alternate Hackett and Dwayne Jarrett game-to-game at the third receiver position for Monday's 38-23 win against Tampa Bay at Bank of America Stadium.
Jarrett caught a 7-yard pass in the second quarter for a first down. He didn't play last week against Green Bay and Hackett sat out the week before at Atlanta.
Other inactives for the Panthers: Matt Moore (third quarterback), safety C.J. Wilson, linebacker Adam Seward, guard Mackenzy Bernadeau, defensive end Hilee Taylor, guard Jeremy Bridges, receiver Kenneth Moore.
Bucs inactives: Brian Griese (third quarterback), receiver Dexter Jackson, quarterback Josh Johnson, running back Noah Herron, safety Donte Nicholson, linebacker Matt McCoy, defensive tackle Jovan Haye and tackle James Lee.
Jonathan Stewart had two of the Panthers' four touchdown runs. That gives him eight, breaking Panthers' rookie touchdown record of seven, set by Fred Lane in 1997.
Julius Peppers' 1.5 sacks give him 12.5 for the season. His career high is 13.0. He also blocked an extra-point attempt.
John Kasay's 33-yard field goal made him 21-of-22 this year.
For a a unit that's been derided as having bad hands, linebacker Jon Beason made a nice snag on an onside kick.
The Panthers' game Sunday against the Denver will be at 4:15p.m., moved from an original start time of 1. There's been speculation Carolina's game at the New York Giants on Dec.22 might be moved to NBC's Sunday night slot.
