Panthers owner has heart transplant surgery

Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson underwent successful heart transplant surgery on Sunday night, according to a report by WBTV.

Citing a source close to the surgery, the Charlotte-based broadcast station said the 72-year-old Richardson underwent the procedure after learning in mid- December the need for the transplant. He had been on the waiting list since and is reportedly doing well after Sunday's surgery.
