Roethlisberger returns to practice
December 31
Pittsburgh Tribune Review
"Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger watched practice today and has started taking a standard battery of tests as he recovers from the concussion he sustained in a 31-0 win over the Browns.
Roethlisberger has an extra week to get better since the Steelers have a first-round bye in the playoffs. Coach Mike Tomlin said there is nothing to indicate that Roethlisberger won't be able to play in the Steelers' AFC divisional playoff game a week from Saturday at Heinz Field.
"We're going to proceed slowly with him because we have that luxury," Tomlin said today, "but we feel comfortable with where he is relative to Sunday and where he's capable of being next week in preparation for our game."
Tomlin has not ruled out Roethlisberger practicing this week. The Steelers practice tomorrow and Thursday before taking a three-day weekend. Roethlisberger left the Steelers' locker room shortly after practice and did not talk to reporters.
Roethlisberger stayed down near the end of the first half of last Sunday's game after getting hit during a pass attempt. He was carted off the field as a precaution and later taken to a Pittsburgh hospital for tests."
