Vanden Bosch says surgery a success

"Defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch said surgery to repair areas surrounding his abdominals and groin was successful and that he should return to action in time for the Titans' playoff opener.
"I'm confident that it's fixed now," he said Thursday.
A lingering groin injury that forced Vanden Bosch to miss three games earlier led to stress on other core areas and required surgery to repair, he said.
The Titans will be without the right side of their defensive line for the final two regular season games as Vanden Bosch and tackle Albert Haynesworth (sprained knee) heal up. The Titans have a first-round playoff bye before a Divisional round game on Jan. 10 or 11 at LP Field.
Vanden Bosch said Tuesday's surgery was not sports hernia related and that he's spending this week allowing his body to recover.
"After that it's full speed ahead," he said. "I'm trying to help this team win in the playoffs."
Dave Ball is expected to start in place of Vanden Bosch against the Steelers on Sunday. Rookie Jason Jones is expected to start in place of Haynesworth. Jacob Ford and William Hayes figure to see significant action as well.
"It's a big week for everybody on the defensive line," Coach Jeff Fisher said. "Any time you have an injury, your backups have to step up and play."
Steelers Coach Mike Tomlin said Haynesworth's replacement could expect the same double teams Haynesworth would have faced.
"All big guys in the interior defenses get double teamed," Tomlin said. "That's just the reality of today's NFL.""
