Tom Talks: Tailgating gets the Led out December 15
Charlotte Observer
"I tried something new before the Carolina-Denver game. I tailgated. But it was the fantasy version of tailgating in that I didn't eat or drink. Saw a lot of people I know, some of whom I haven't seen for years, met a few I didn't and heard Led Zeppelin pouring out of the CD player of an SUV. Beats the press box. Thanks for having me.
Denver made its strategy clear on the first series when it stacked defenders near the line of scrimmage. If the Panthers were going to beat them, it would have to be through the air. At the half, DeAngelo Williams had rushed eight times for 17 yards. But there is always a play with Williams and on Sunday it came on the first series of the third quarter. Williams ran left, was trapped, crashed into fullback Brad Hoover, bounced back toward the middle, cut inside right end Elvis Dumervil and didn't stop until he reached the end zone 56 yards later. Williams' balance and vision are amazing. He finished with 88 yards on 12 carries."
