Lovie Smith not concerned about Matt Forte's toe injury

"Matt Forte's toe injury doesn't appear to be a major concern.
"He has a sore toe, but he was able to finish the football game," Bears coach Lovie Smith said Friday. "We don't think he'll have any other trouble with it."
Forte suffered the injury to his right foot on his first carry Thursday against the Saints. X-rays were negative.
He will have plenty of time to recover because the Bears don't play until a Dec. 22 Monday night matchup with rival Green Bay.
The bigger issue for the Bears is having a capable back ready in case something happens to Forte at the end of this season or in the future. Kevin Jones signed a one-year deal and started the season as the backup, but Adrian Peterson has assumed the No. 2 role.
"We have someone ready right now, Adrian Peterson, who does a great job for us," Smith said. "Kevin Jones fits into the equation, just like Garrett Wolfe did. We had four tailbacks on our roster going into the season. We feel like we covered ourselves the best we could."
Wolfe was placed on injured reserve Friday with a hamstring injury, taking away one member of the insurance plan. And Jones was inactive for four games before showing up on special teams Thursday night. He requested the new role rather than ride the bench.
"We didn't dress Kevin a few weeks because of special teams, and it's no more than that," Smith said. "He hasn't done anything that we haven't liked.""
