All-time series: Carolina leads 5-2. Cards are winless in their last 4 vs. Panthers and have not beat them since a 16-13 win at Carolina on Oct. 6, 2002.
Last meeting: Panthers won 25-10 at University of Phoenix Stadium on Oct. 14, 2007, behind Vinny Testaverde. The then-43-year-old was called in because Jake Delhomme and David Carr were both injured.
Last outing for the Panthers: Jake Delhomme threw 2 TD passes and the Panthers' defense beat up the Saints in a 30-7 victory Sunday. They knocked Reggie Bush out of the game and stuffed two key fourth-down runs, preventing New Orleans from ever getting within striking distance.
Last outing for the Cardinals: Despite blowing a 24-14 lead in the final minutes, the Cardinals prevailed when Sean Morey blocked a Mat McBriar punt which was recovered in the end zone for a 30-24 overtime win over Dallas on Oct. 12.
Where they are: The Cardinals lead the NFC West by 2 games and the Panthers are tied atop the NFC South with Tampa Bay.
What's in the offing: For the Cardinals, the possible return of All-Pro wideout Anquan Boldin. He's been out because of a concussion and facial injuries suffered on a hit by Jets safety Eric Smith on Sept. 28. ... This game offers a chance for the Cards to win a game on the road, and in the Eastern Time zone. They're 10-41 overall away from home and 3-18 in the East since 2002. ... Better find a way to stop Delhomme to WR Steve Smith. Smith, who caught a 65-yard scoring pass against the Cards last year, has been dominant at times in his career and is coming off a 122-yard game. ... And the Cards better find a way to block Julius Peppers, who broke Kurt Warner's elbow last season and can be a devastating pass rusher.
