Put Your Junk in the Trunk
Lock it or lose it, put your junk in the trunk!
Cincinnati Police hope the slogan is catchy enough to catch on. They're kicking off a theft from auto education program tomorrow, to try and stop a huge problem that is totally preventable.
About five thousand cars a year are broken into, for everything from the change left on the front seat to the computer left in the back seat.
The g-p-s is the hottest theft item right now.
Lt. Mark Briede, Cincinnati Police: "Could be cd's, ipod, briefcase, suction cup left on windshield, cell phone, when breaking into cars, if got the charger they look for what goes with it also."
The campaign will include bait cars with a camera to catch the thief in the act, educational e-mails and more cops walking the beat and working undercover.
